This film “The Diving Bell And The Butterfly”, about a man whose whole body was left paralyzed by a stroke and could only communicate by blinking his one eye, was director Julian Schnabel labor of love and one in which he drew inspiration from his terminally ill father. He tried to “get into his father’s mind” while making the film.
“The Diving Bell And The Butterfly” won Julian Schnabel the Best Director award at Cannes Film Festival in 2007 and a nomination at the upcoming Academy Awards for 2008. A touching and harrowing film at the same time, “The Diving Bell And The Butterfly” is a masterpiece and would leave you breathless by the closing credits.
